When I say banger, I’m not talking about your typical Cumberland sausage.  What I’m referring to are your Roman Candles, Catherine wheels and rockets…yep you got it, fireworks.

With Brexit and then COVID having ravaged its way through every facet of our lives for nearly 2 years now, we find ourselves having to adapt to a new way of life.

Now as far as the supply of goods are concerned, you only have to walk around your local supermarket to see missing items on the shelves whether this be milk, toilet rolls, bottled water and I understand sausages with this no doubt only getting a lot worse as Christmas approaches.

With autumn very much now in the air, it comes as no surprise to read that as we approach bonfire night, fireworks are the latest product to be hit by Brexit supply chains.  With a 70% plunge in industry wide stock, this will inevitably force prices through the roof so you might need to resort to raiding the piggy bank for some extra pennies.

All of this is has been further exacerbated by suppliers being unable to get there head around new paperwork due to Brexit as well as the switch up in safety labelling from CE and UKCA marking which has been a complete headache across many sectors including the world of pyrotechnics.

Until recently, all fireworks being supplied in the UK were having to update their labelling with the new UKCA by Jan 2022 however government, at the 11th hour, did an about turn and granted the industry another year to get their house in order. Although, this ultimately is good news for the many, it did mean that wholesalers were unwilling to stock up in case they couldn’t sell on CE marked products.
