Luckily not a monster in this instance, more the consumer for the marketplace of the future..
I dipped in and out of the virtual “OECD International Consumer Conference, “The Consumer Marketplace of the Future” which drew to a close yesterday….
A couple of takeaways for me;
The global challenges around on-line marketplaces featured heavily in a number of sessions.
More needs to be done globally around consumers in the green economy.
As the recent report from the National Audit Office “Protecting consumers from unsafe products” concluded that local and national regulation is not well coordinated despite improvements” equally the problem of global co-ordination of cross-border enforcement is an even bigger challenge.
The use of “dark patterns” to manipulate consumers into buying products they don’t need is a much bigger problem than I ever imagined…
