Q: What more disappointing than having to buy school shirts for your offspring mid school term?
A: The amount of time it takes to get the shirts out of the packing and then the confusion that ensues trying to recycle it all…
Children grow rapidly I get it. So, I wasn’t surprised when I had to take a trip to the local retail park midterm to purchase a couple of plain white shirts for my son.
On inspecting the shirts in store, I was with met with various sustainability claims:
“Sourced as responsible cotton”
“Contains recycled polyester” (I am not sure how much)
“This bag is made with over 30% recycled plastic”
As you can see from the photo, the packaging for such items seems overly complicated and there’s several elements I think could be modified (plastic clips) or removed (plastic collar stiffeners). The bags can be recycled at ‘local stores’ but there‘s no guidance as to how you do this, so I gave up.
So, to continue the school theme;
