Whilst I always like to support local companies, I’ve given up with my local cab firm.

Always late, whatever car you ask for it doesn’t arrive. So whilst a bit late to the party I am becoming quite partial to using UBER.

Whilst not all stereotypes are true about us Northerners, I’d like to think we’re a chatty bunch.

So on this afternoons trip I asked the driver, “Are you from Wolverhampton?”.

“No, I am a Manc he replied.”

Me, “It’s just the app says your taxi licence is from Wolverhampton”..

“Yeah, all the drivers get their licences from Wolverhampton, that’s where it’s easiest..”…

Whilst I admired his honesty, as somebody whose professional life revolves around better regulation and consumer protection this exchange left me a little nonplussed.

So if you fancy a career change and fancy becoming a cabbie, then looks like a a trip to Wolverhampton is on the cards. If you’re after regulatory support then all I can offer is a zoom call where you get a glimpse of my ugly mug. Which is worse I’ll let you decide……
